Northside Festival #ns12

We went to our first Northside festival last weekend (15/16/17 June) in Aarhus and it was brilliant - just what the doctor ordered. There were three days of bands and the festival had a really cosy (hyggelig!) atmosphere. There were only two stages, so you could listen to every band! It worked out really well - you were never torn between two bands, and you could just relax on your picnic rug and listen to the music! The festival opened with Noah and the Whale (fun group to listen to) and closed with Snow Patrol (one of my favourite bands ever), and once again they didn't disappoint - they got the crowd going, we were jumping with the crowd near to the front and singing....it was just like the old days at a festival :o)

Weather wise it wasn't good on Friday - but Veto helped to lift our spirits in the evening!. But the sun did come out on Saturday and Sunday, and then the wind arrived on Sunday, meaning that they had to take down the huge screens by the stage for a few hours. There was a great mix of bands - from Denmark, the US, Britain, Ireland (SP), Canada, Sweden, France (and more that I have probably forgotten). The toilets were lovely (if you went to the white ones, and not the green ones as I found out later!). I thought the vibe at the festival was really good - everyone was in great spirits, and the location of the festival meant that we could cycle there in 10-15 mins - perfect! Our friend Nora took some photos over the weekend, and there are some included below - til next year #ns13.
P.S. Our purple festival hat made a welcome return to the festival scene.
